Motorbike adventure tour through Laos is certainly a special experience. Along this 1140 km trip, we will introduce you the great North East of Laos and some of the hidden secrets on the “off the beaten track”.
Highlights of the tour:
-UNESCO World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang
-Hidden Cave City of Vieng Xai
-Plain of Jars
-Karst hill landscape of Vang vieng
Day 1. Vieng Chan – Luang Prabang.350km
Depart from Vientian after breakfast.
A hilly ride awaits today!, we twist and turn up the sides of hills with many excellent viewpoints along the way. A lunch stop in Vang Vieng at a local restaurant and then more pure motorcycle turns on the highway. We arrive in Luang Prabang before sunset and a cold drink along the Mekong completes today. Night at Hotel.
Day 2. Luang Prabang, Visits.
Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city, is an outstanding example of the fusion of Lao traditional architecture and its urban structure built by the European colonial authorities in the 19 century. Luang Prabang’s unique and remarkably well-preserved townscape illustrates a key stage in the blending of these two distinct cultural traditions.
Highlights include impressive temples like Vat Visoun, Vat Aham, Vat Xieng Thong, and a weaving village at Ban Phanom, for a half-day trip. The full-day trip includes visits to the National Museum, Central Market, and a spectacular sunset view over the Mekong.
Day 3. Luang Prabang – Vieng Thong.240km
Time for a little off roading. We leave Luang Prabang and start in on a compacted dirt road that winds along a river. It gets steep and the views are fantastic. A simple picnic lunch along the way keeps us going and dinner in Vieng Thong awaits. Night at Hotel.
Day 3. Vieng Thong – Phonxavan.180km
After breakfast, we ride along isolated mountain areas and today’s destination is the Plain of Jars. This area is still heavily mined and remnants of the Indochina war can still be seen even though it ended long time ago. We explore Site 1 of Plain of Jars and back to Phonsavan before dark.
Day 4. Phonxavan – Vang Vieng.220km
An early departure will be needed. The tough ride is taking you through remote areas. It’s hard to find a place to eat. A simple picnic lunch with sticky rice and laap will keep your fuel right. Join back the good road to get Vang Vieng. Nice hotel and dinner in Vang Vieng.
Day 6. Vang Vieng – Vieng Chan.150km
On easy road, we ride back to Vieng Chan, arrive in Vieng Chan by 3pm, Trip ends
